Al lang was er bij lezers en bij boekhandelaren vraag naar een Engelstalige gids over Groningen. Nu kunnen we die eindelijk aankondigen, lees het Engelstalige bericht hieronder.
PERSBERICHT / INVITATION
We’re excited to announce the launch of the walking guide At Home in Groningen! This is the very first English-language book about Groningen, and we’re very proud of it. Join us at the book launch on November 7 or take part in the city walk on November 8. Whether you are a newcomer settling in, a curious visitor, or someone longing to see the city through fresh eyes, this book offers a personal and engaging companion to exploration. Immerse yourself in Groningen and experience the city like never before!
Join author Anna Bezpala on Friday, November 7, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at Café De Sleutel to hear about the making of the book and her favorite spots in Groningen, enjoy poetry by Sonya Kyriienko, photography by Lieke van den Krommenacker, music by Wybe Wiersma & The Last Mandrill, and a Q&A. The entire program will be in English.
On Saturday, November 8, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM, take a walk through Groningen with Anna and hear the stories behind the book, starting at the publisher’s office and ending the afternoon there also with a drink. Celebrate Groningen, stories, and beautiful walks with us!
About the book: From the brown cafés to the student associations, the bookshops and the terraces -- no matter where your journey begins, it inevitably leads to the beating heart of the city: the Grote Markt. We start our tour here, surrounded by historic façades, lively bars, the city hall, the Forum and of course the iconic Martini Tower, and will discover what the city has to offer.
With warmth and wit, author Anna invites you to join her on a walk through the city she called home for a couple of years and uncovers the stories that give Groningen its character. Whether you are a newcomer settling in, a curious visitor, or someone longing to see the city through fresh eyes, this book offers a personal and engaging companion to exploration. Take a coffee in hand, and let Anna lead the way. Groningen is waiting. Graphic design by Vera Post, editing by Emma Urbanová, photography by Lieke van den Krommenacker.
